Prof. (Dr.) Meena Sharma

Prof. (Dr.) Meena Sharma is a Professor in the Department of Hindi at P.G.D.A.V. College (Evening), University of Delhi, where she has taught for twenty-one years. Her scholarship covers modern Hindi literature, narrative discourse, media studies and the question of women's identity in Indian writing.

She holds a D.Litt. from B.R. Ambedkar University and a Ph.D. in Hindi from the University of Delhi, along with an M.Phil. and two master's degrees — an M.A. in Hindi from the University of Delhi and a second M.A. in Mass Journalism and Media — and postgraduate diplomas in journalism and in translation. She has authored ten books, published research in Scopus-indexed journals, and guided five doctoral scholars.

Beyond the classroom, she works for the dignity and inclusion of Divyangjan, and she founded the Legal Awareness add-on course that has taken legal literacy to students and citizens since 2016. That same conviction — that learning must serve people — gave rise to Manvarth.

Her degrees span Hindi literature, mass communication and translation — an unusual combination that shapes how she reads language, media and public life together. She holds two master's degrees, one in Hindi and one in Mass Journalism and Media, taken sixteen years apart.

She continues as permanent faculty in the Department of Hindi, and has served three terms as Teacher-in-Charge of the department.

Prof. Sharma works for the empowerment and inclusion of Divyangjan through NSS and District Legal Services Authority programmes — cultural education, financial assistance, and the supervision of a doctoral scholar from the Divyangjan community.

In 2016 she founded the Legal Awareness add-on course at P.G.D.A.V. College (Evening), and she convenes it to this day. The South-East District Legal Services Authority has recognised the programme with a Gratitude Certificate for eight consecutive years.

Her work carries her well beyond her own college, into examination boards, university committees and national bodies.

Prof. Sharma has represented Indian scholarship at conferences and academic delegations across Europe, the Gulf, South Asia and the Pacific.

Manvarth grows from Prof. Sharma's conviction that dialogue, dignity and service belong together. As convener of the Rishiwar Inter-Faith Conference 2026 in Srinagar, she brought faith leaders, the judiciary, academia and administration around one message — that respect for all faiths is the civilizational ethos of India.

Under her patronage, Manvarth carries that spirit into practical work on the ground: education, welfare, agriculture and rural infrastructure, offered to all without distinction.
